3 Hong Kong announced that the Office of the Communications Authority issued a temporary license for the 26 GHz and 28 GHz Millimetre Wave band to test 5G network. The operator will use 5G new Radio for testing.
3 Hong Kong is allowed to possess, set up, maintain and use the base stations and equipment specified in the permit for radio communication purposes in the second half of the year, and conduct indoor and outdoor 5G network testing.
3 Hong Kong has been actively developing 5G technology. As early as last August, it successfully applied for the 3.5GHz 5G indoor test license to the Communications Authority, and the relevant tests were completed at the end of last year. Beginning in the third quarter of this year, 3 Hong Kong will continue indoor and outdoor testing in the 26 GHz and 28 GHz millimeter-wave 5G bands.
3 Hong Kong has been planning to offer 5G services to customers as soon as possible.
